Psalms PowerPoints Available from the Winter Bible Study Preview – October 19, 2021

On October 19th, a group of pastors and Bible teachers gathered at First Baptist Covington, Louisiana for a morning of Bible study and fellowship focused on the book of Psalms.

During the first morning session, Dr. Wayne VanHorn discussed the history and background of the Psalms. He is Dean of the School of Christian Studies and the Arts at Mississippi College. You can download a PowerPoint of Dr. VanHorn’s presentation and additional background content for the study of Psalms (and much more) here and here.

In the second session, Dr. Waylon Bailey explored ways to preach and teach the Psalms. Since 1989, he has served as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Covington, Louisiana. As a former professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Waylon is the author of five books, including the New American Commentary on Nahum, Habakkuk, and Zephaniah.

During the lunch following each speaker’s presentation, we had a Q&A time with both men.

Coming October 19th! Psalms: A Winter Bible Study Preview

Have you considered doing a study of a single book of the Bible in 2022?

Whether you are a pastor planning an upcoming sermon series, or a small group leader planning a book study, or a student of the scriptures studying for personal enrichment, we want to invite you to our Winter Bible Study focused on the book of Psalms!

This is a chance to gather with other pastors and Bible teachers — to step back and catch your breath — and take some time to explore the riches of what God has given us in the Psalms.

We have engaged a wonderful pair of Bible expositors to lead us.

Dr. Wayne VanHorn will discuss the history and background of the Psalms. He is Dean of the School of Christian Studies and the Arts at Mississippi College. He and his wife Terri have three children and nine grandchildren.
